Emergency contact information must be completed on the back of the bib for the runner to participate. $5 registration on-line at https://firecracker4.com/registration/until July 3 or in person before 9:30 a.m. on July 4. SARATOGA NATIONAL HISTORIC PARK: Independence Day on Tuesday, July 4, will be celebrated at Saratoga National Historical Park with a 10 a.m. Citizenship Ceremony and traditional reading of the Declaration of Independence. 20 immigrants from countries all over the world will become new citizens of the United States of America. Fife and drums, color guard, and musket firings frame this special event organized by Sons of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Revolution, Friends of Saratoga Battlefield and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The League of Women Voters will be onsite with voter registration forms for anyone interested in registering. Join volunteer Joe Craig at 2 p.m. as a messenger from 1776 reading the Declaration of Independence, with authentic 18th century toasts reflecting the insightful wit of the document signers. Enjoy free lemonade to share in the toasts, followed by celebratory musket firings. These events are free and open to the public. USS SLATER: USS Slater will be open to the public for guided tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Independence Day, July 4. Typically, the ship is closed on Tuesday for continuing restoration, but exceptions are made for significant holidays. Admission is charged. Albany’s World War II destroyer escort is the only DE afloat in America. USS Slater is located on the Hudson River in Downtown Albany just south of the Dunn Memorial Bridge.
