Charlotte Ahern

SARATOGA SPRINGS - Charlotte Ahern of SaraLaccie­telli. toga Springs passed away peacefully at the Wesley Health Care Center on June 28, 2017, at the age of 89. Born on March 9, 1928, she was the only child of the late Thomas and Rose (Petrone)

Born and raised in beth New Jersey, Charlotte loved dancing. Later in life, Charlotte and husband John “Jake” had 3 chilgrandc­hilregdren and Charlotte loved spending time with them. Charlotte also enjoyed her time working at the family owned Laccietell­i’s Delicatess­en, in Elizabeth. Charlotte had great joy in attending her dren’s sporting events ularly.

Charlotte is survived by her three beloved children, Richard (Ellen), Thomas (Chris) and Michael. Her 5 amazing grandchild­ren, Kyle, Richard, Conor, Ryan and Holly and 2 grandchild­ren Fiona and Mason. Charlotte loved the time she spent with her family and will be dearly missed.

Charlotte’s family would like to thank the staff at Wesley and Wesley Hospice for the amazing care and devotion they gave to her.

Jean E. Groeber

SARATOGA SPRINGS Jean E. Groeber, 92, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Wesley Health Care Center.

Born on May 12, 1925 in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Anne Neubaur. Jean lived for many years at Embury Apartments in Saratoga Springs. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends.

In addition to her ents, Jean was predecease­d by her husband Donald Groeber and her sisters Ann Liquori and Shirley Liquori.

Survivors include her three children, Karen TuckMassac­husetts/Florida; er of Gansevoort, Michael Groeber of Oklahoma and William (Linda) Groeber of sister Barbara (David) King of Schenectad­y; brother Leo (Joan) Neubaur of Arizona; nine grandchild­ren; eleven great-grandchild­ren and nieces and nephews.

There will be no public calling hours. A graveside service will be at 1:30pm Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 938 Watervliet Shaker Road, Albany.

Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Son/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway, toga Springs (584-5373).

Margaret Ann “Peggy” Helmke

SARATOGA SPRINGS - Margaret Ann “Peggy” Helmke passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at The Wesley Health Care Center. She was 81 years old. Margaret Ann was born on January 5, 1936 as the only child of the late Francis and Jean Boyce of Park Slope Brooklyn.

Formerly a Registered Nurse, who trained and worked at Bellevue HospiPeggy tal in NYC, Peggy contindevo­tthoughtfa­mued to put caring about people first as she ed her time to family as a full time wife and mother. People remember for how loving and ful she was. Often giving gifts and sending cards to friends (and the ily members of friends). Peggy was a lover of art, food, friends and travel, spending much time in the Caribbean with her fambrought ily. She will be missed by all, but remembered with a smile for all the joy she to others.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband Edward H. Helmke, whom she married in 1955. She is also survived by a very large and loving family includMitc­hading her three daughters, Kim Elizabeth Mitchell (and husband Jim ell), Karen Jo Scullion, and Claudia Jean Miller, in dition to her seven grandgrand­children, with grandsons Ryan, Quinn (and the late Shea) Mitchell, and daughters Shannon, Emma and Hanna Scullion and Sofie Miller.

Rose Ann S. Vaughn

SARATOGA SPRINGS Rose Ann S. Vaughn, 94, died on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in her home at Wesley Health Care Center following a brief illness. She was formerly of Schenectad­y, of Greenville, and of Clifton Park. Rose Ann was born in Amsterdam on January 29, 1923 as the only child to the late Frank Anthony and Marianne Bucci Spidalieri. In addition to her parents, she is predecease­d by her beloved husband, William E. Vaughn.

Rose Ann is survived by her daughter Diana of Galway, NY and by a large extended family.

Calling hours will be held on Friday July 7, 2017 from 10am to 12pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. A funeral service will be held at 1pm at the Christ Episcopal Church, State Route 32, Greenville, followed by burial in Greenville Cemetery.

Sheila R. (Kuntze) VanVoast

April 3, 1926 – June 24, 2017

BRUNSWICK, GA - Sheila R. (Kuntze) VanVoast died suddenly and peacefully on June 24, 2017 in Brunswick, Ga. She was 91.

Sheila was born on April 3, 1926 in Mount Vernon, N.Y., to Isabel Saxe and Raymond Jerome RemarKuntz­e, inhardsen. In 1930 she moved to Redding, Conn., and lived above the Mark Twain Library where her mother “Belle” served as librarian. Sheila graduated from Danbury High School and moved to Manhattan to attend the Flower Fifth Avenue School of Nursing where she met and ried her first husband, C. Donald in 1948.

They lived for a while in Frankfurt, Germany, before settling in Leonia, N.J., in 1956 and together they raised four children. The family spent winter and summer vacations enjoyLake ing the outdoors in North Conway, N.H., and George, N.Y.

With her nursing degree Sheila gave her attention and love as a nurse at EnHosvolun­York. glewood Hospital in New Jersey and as a private duty nurse at the New York pital for Special Surgery. Later in life, Sheila teered in triage/admissions at Glens Falls Hospital in upstate New

In 1987 Sheila met and married her second husband, Horace “Bo” Silliman VanVoast III and they reBrunscap­acwonlivin­g sided in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., for two decades, while also enjoying time at the Lake George home. Sheila’s final move was to wick, Ga., in 2015 to be near her daughter, Megan. She thrived at full ity doing all the things she loved while in a derful community on the Golden Isles Coast.

Sheila was genuinely ty, very social, a great cook and a fabulous hostess. She loved many things includskia­nd ing snow skiing, water ing, fishing, swimming, tennis, knitting, boating on their Chris Craft, daily crossword puzzles and cocktail hour. Lake George was her true love was a part of her family’s heritage dating back to the 1920s. She also played bridge regpason ularly and had a deep sion for Scrabble. On the day before she passed, she landed a seven-letter word a triple score.

Sheila lived a charmed life and she knew it.

She is survived by her sons, Alan Joseph Kuntze II (Libby Mills) of Bay View, Wash., and Christophe­r Donald Kuntze of WhiteBrook­assisof field, N.H., her daughter Megan Kuntze (William F. Kardas) of Shellman Bluff, Ga., her grandson Davin Brook Kuntze of lyn, N.Y., and her beloved friend and personal tant Simone Souza Owens Darien, Ga. She was predecease­d by her first husband, C. Donald Kuntze, M.D., her second husband Horace “Bo” Silliman VanVoast III and her son Seth Colin Kuntze.
