CROQUET ON THE GREEN: Now in its fourth year, the annual Croquet on the Green event will take place Tuesday, August 1, on the lawn at AIM Services, Inc., 4227, Route 50, Saratoga Springs. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m. for anyone interested in free lessons on how to play croquet from USCA National Champion Francis J. Palasieski. The Tournament, starting at 3 p.m., consists of teams of two and is open to all ages, abilities and skill. The cost to enter the Tournament is $50 per individual (the fee also includes access to the accompanyi­ng Garden Party). Any skill level is welcome. Equipment and instructio­n will be provided. FIRE FEAST: At least five nationally and internatio­nally renowned farm-to-table chefs will be featured at a “fire feast” hosted by Pitney Meadows Community Farm (PMCF) on Tuesday, August 1. The focus of the multicours­e dinner will be five live-fire pits, each of which will be directed by a celebrated guest chef. Favorite area musicians will perform throughout the evening, which will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Also in the spotlight will be PMCF’s new 42 x 148-foot Harnois “high tunnel,” which will serve as both an event space and a greenhouse for growing vegetables. With a floor one-tenth the size of a football field, it will accommodat­e as many as 300 people for this “farm fashionabl­e” sit-down dinner. Grant has recovered enough from his shock and sorrow to talk about the late President. Lincoln and Grant were the leadership team that won the Civil War. The General, portrayed by Grant Cottage tour guide Steve Trimm, will discuss the unique working relationsh­ip he had with his Commander-In-Chief and the human qualities that made Lincoln, the man, so remarkable. 1 p.m., 1000 Mt. BALLSTON SPA FILM FESTIVAL: The 10th Annual Ballston Spa Internatio­nal Short Film Festival will be held Friday and Saturday evenings, August 4 - 5. This free, family friendly event presents short films up to 15 minutes in length from local, national and internatio­nal filmmakers. This year’s Festival will present 43 short films in four slates, each running approximat­ely one hour. The full list of film selections is available on www. BSpaFilm.org. Screenings will be held in the Ballston Spa High School auditorium at 7 p.m., and outdoors in the Old Iron Spring Park, Front Street at 9 p.m. Refreshmen­ts and pre-screening trivia will be held in Old Iron Spring Park 8 p.m. – 9 p.m. both evenings. After-parties follow the evening screenings at Brookside Museum, located across from the park. The Ballston Spa Film Festival is free and open to the public.
