2 dead in Glens Falls homicide

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. » A Glens Falls man is in custody for the alleged stabbing murders of his former girlfriend and her young daughter.

Police apprehended Bryan Redden, 21, early Friday afternoon after the victims were discovered Friday morning inside their apartment at 148 South St., at the corner of Murray Street.

The block in front of the house was cordoned off all day with crime scene tape and both city police and Warren County Sheriff’s officers secured the scene, a block from Glens Falls Post Office and a short distance from Glens Falls Hospital.

It’s the third homicide, which have claimed five victims, in Saratoga and Warren counties this week.

“It’s horrible, a little close to home,” said a

neighbor, requesting anonymity. On Thursday, two teens were charged with second-degree murder for the Monday night shooting death of 19-year-old David J. Feliciano at his Grove Street home in Mechanicville. It was that city’s first homicide since 1997.

On Wednesday, George Puglisi, 76, shot his brother, Dennis, 71, and then himself in a murder-suicide at their Johnsburg home.

Also, in May, Michael C. Norton was charged with the alleged axe murder of his wife, Sherry, at their home in Hadley.

Police have not released the victims’ names. The woman is believed to be in her mid-30s and her daughter is said to be about 4 years old.

Redden was expected to be arraigned Friday night. He apparently left the scene in a gold-colored Toyota Highlander and was picked up several hours later when police spotted him driving it on Bay Street.

Published reports say Glens Falls police responded to the South Street home about two weeks ago for an alleged domestic incident. The mother of the deceased woman discovered the victims in the building’s front apartment after going to check on them. A neighbor heard a woman screaming at about 9:30 a.m. Friday, reports say.
