Staff reports CASTLETON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. » The Shenendeho­wa varsity golf team opened its 2017 campaign with a 244-271 Suburban Council win over Columbia Monday.

The Plainsmen (1-0) were led by medalist Angelo Carfaro one-over par 37 at Evergreen Country Club. Mike Westfall and Luke Potter tied with 39s followed by Paul Goetz with a 41. Jack Manning and Drew Liguori both fired 44s in the league opener.

Columbia (0-1) were led by Justin Pangburn’s 41 followed by Stephen Blydenburg­h’s 42 and Matt LaHera’s 43. BETHLEHEM 237, BALLSTON SPA SPA 280 » Bethlehem’s Austin Fox fired a low-round 35 Tuesday at Ballston Spa Country Club to lead the Eagles past Ballston Spa, 237-280.

Ballston Spa’s Bella Diaz led the Scotties with a 37.

Bethlehem’s Jerry Jennings, Will Davis and Ryan Davis shot 40s followed by Mike Mullen and T.J. Trosset shot 41s.

The Scotties Jake Manderson shot a 43 followed by Camden Esposito with a 45 and Michael Duval with a 47. MECHANICVI­LLE 5, CAMBRIDGE 2 » Mackenzie Bowie scored three goals for the Red Raiders Tuesday combining with Madalynn Garone, Jada Brown and Lea Hickey in the 5-2 league win. Miranda Seacord scored both goals for Cambridge in the loss. Mechanicvi­lle’s Victoria Dupuis had seven saves in the win. STILLWATER 5, COHOES 2 » Stillwater’s Brooke Pickett scored three goals and added an assist in Saturday’s contest versus Cohoes at Stillwater High School. Teya Staie added a goal and two assists along with Brooke Pickett tallying a goal for the Warriors.

Cohoes saw Madelyn Stallmer and Lauren Shanahan find the back of the net for the Tigers. SARATOGA 2, BURNT HILLS 1» Simon Smith slipped a shot past the Burnt Hills goalie on a penalty kick with four minutes left in regulation for the Suburban Council game-winner Tuesday afternoon. Aidan O’Malley tallied the first goal for the Blue Streaks earlier, matching Spartan Keven Hughes first goal of the contest. GREENWICH 6, HOOSIC VALLEY » John Swertner had a hat trick for the Witches (1-0) , scoring twice in the first half with Ellis Pemrick , AJ Rymph, and Sam Whiting adding tallies for Greenwich.

Chris Hallam was assisted by CJ Bassett for the loan goal for the Indians (0-1). Hoosic Valley’s Derick Kehn recorded two saves and James Robert had two saves both in the second half .
