The Saratogian (Saratoga, NY)

Meg Kelly will represent all Saratoga residents

-

I have known Meg Kelly for more than a decade. Her work with local children and the arts is well known to parents and community members. But, what people might not know is that she has great passion for this community and its citizens.

Years ago, one of my daughter’s classmates went through a very difficult time. My family, as well as many other families, tried everything to help. Often times, we never really knew if we are helping, but standing by and doing nothing was not an option. As time passed, many people’s attentions were diverted to other worthy efforts. Meg and I, however, wanted to continue to be there as long as she needed us. I witnessed first hand Meg’s commitment to this little girl and her family. I saw how she rolled up her sleeves and helped them in several ways.

Meg founded and managed the Children’s Theater for years. I also witnessed, firsthand, Meg making room for scholarship kids. She always made sure that any kid who wanted to attend her classes was able to, even if they couldn’t afford it. I have seen Meg encourage scared and shy kids to go up on stage and be part of something fun, forgetting briefly whatever they were going through at home.

Several individuals, not just me, have evidenced her hard work and commitment to the arts, to kids, and to this community. But, unless you have seen her compassion and volunteerism yourself, you might now know this wonderful side of Meg. She is very humble and uncomfortable tooting her own horn. She is quiet and reserved, focused on problem solving. She is a doer. When Meg makes up her mind to help, there is nothing that will stop her or lessen her resolve.

Meg Kelly genuinely cares about people and loves this City. She doesn’t care who is Democrat or Republican, nor does she care who you know or how much you make. She is a smart, hard-working, and compassionate woman whom I trust to rise above political pettiness and represent all of us in 2018. Please join me in voting for Meg Kelly for Mayor.
