SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » More than 30 local business and higher education leaders will gather from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the cafeteria at Saratoga Springs High School to take part in the Saratoga Srings City School District’s Business and Education Networking Night.

A select group of teachers and students will present some projects they are planning for the upcoming school year at the event, as well as looking to partner with a local business or higher education leader to further enhance their lessons, according to a school district news release.

“Saratoga is fortunate to have a strong educational program that provides students with a large variety of pathways towards college and career,” Joseph Greco, K-12 director of math, science and technology integration for the district, said in the release. “However, if we want our students to be competitive after graduation, we need to provide them with authentic learning experiences that will help them connect classroom problems to real-world solutions. A networking event such as this allows innovative teachers and knowledgeable community leaders to quickly find each other and create partnerships that will increase student engagement and potentially lead to future career opportunities for our graduates.”

Siemens Energy, ESPEY Manufacturing, Quad Graphics and the Fort Miller Group are among 30 local companies that will be on hand to network with teachers and students to build future partnerships. Additionally, Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner, D-Round Lake, and leaders from the state Education Department, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Hudson Valley Community College, Clarkson University and Siena College will also be there to support K-12, higher education and industry collaboration, the release said.
