Kelly will help city maintain moral compass

-

With elections coming up in just a few weeks there are multiple reasons Saratoga Springs should support Meg Kelly. First and foremost she is an integral part of Saratoga; she grew up here, she raised her family here. Second, she has the best interest and well-being of the community at heart. It is that commitment that makes her willing and able to work across party lines. It’s not about party. It’s about the good of the community. Third she is interested in preserving the history, beauty and unique small town feeling of the not-so-smalltown Saratoga Springs.

While Saratoga is and has been in a growth mode for a solid generation, we shouldn’t want to change its values. There needs to be affordable housing, we need to care for our residents and seasonal workers so important to our economy of all backgrounds, origins and persuasion; we need to retain our green space, we need to keep awareness on the beauty of not only landscape but on the arts and education so important to those who call Saratoga Springs home.

We need to maintain a strong moral compass for our young and old. Rainbow signs in many languages of welcome to all in our community are indicators that we are on the right track. A peace march in August, peace convocation on Broadway recently, support for a green environment ... this and much more indicate that community activism is alive and well in Saratoga Springs. We need a mayor like Meg Kelly who can foster and support all this. Phyllis Wang Saratoga Springs
