Fall Family Festival set for Saturday
BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. » For the fifth straight year, the Ballston Spa Central School District will host a Fall Family Festival at Ellms Family Farm this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. to benefit the Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation in Education Fund.
“The event is open to the entire Ballston Spa Central School District community, all of the families, so the farm will have some of their activities up and running like the corn maze, the giant jumping pillow, the zip line, pumpkin decorating, face painting,” said Madeleine Petraglia, from the school district.
There are over 35 activities available with information and exhibits that will be provided by the Ballston Spa schools, students and related organizations.
“We will have all of our elementary schools, our middle school and then some of our high school clubs. They usually put together a display table and they sometimes do their own activities for people to come by and check what they’re doing in their schools,” said Petraglia. “This year we will have Robotics there, so they will have some information on the club and they will have a little activity.”
The Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation in Education Fund is a component fund of the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region. The district’s fund directly supports the students in the Ballston Spa schools, including programs and initiatives such as Sponsor-
A-Scholar, STEM enrichment programs, Robotics teams, Fine & Performing Arts and the Clean Technologies & Sustainable Industries Early College High School.
“We do want to showcase some of the work that we’re doing within our schools,” said Petraglia. “It’s just a way to bring families together and celebrate some of our programs and display what they are working on.”
The basic admission cost is $16.75. A flyer with a $4 discount coupon for Ballston Spa students is being sent home with elementary students and is also on the district website at www.bscsd.org. The Ellms Family Farm is located at 448 Charlton Road and additional information is on their website at www. EllmsFarms.com.
