Safford will bring folks together on trail
I was very happy to see city supervisor candidate John Safford step up and explain how he will protect our seniors, vets, business and all taxpayers (Reader’s View, Oct. 14). It is ludicrous that seniors like Jack and Marie Pompay had to go to court to stop the city from taking their property. Jack Pompay is a vet like John Safford and the city should not be suing our vets to take their property. Since when did people in city hall start thinking that abusing our seniors and vets with lawsuits was morally acceptable? We should not have the city suing our small business either. I love traveling and seeing those Saratoga Spring Water Company blue bottles at the restaurants. It reminds me of home. It is sad to think that at home, it is the city government that sues that great, old company. That is disgraceful.
John Safford carefully analyzed the flaws in the city’s disastrous Geyser Road Trail and the benefits of the alternative Duplainville Woods plan. That’s the kind of thinking I want in our elected officials. I see a responsible and mature person in John Safford who will bring people together and get the right trail option in place without using eminent domain and costing taxpayers money to pay for unnecessary lawsuits.
We need change. Let’s make John Safford a city supervisor on Election Day, Nov. 7. Dave Wallingford Saratoga Springs
