Doctor to help manage group
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » Longtime local physician Dr. David Mastrianni has been named senior vice president of the Saratoga Hospital Medical Group.
In his new role, Mastrianni will support the medical group’s strategic goals, enhance communication and collaboration and serve as the liaison between the growing multi-specialty practice and Saratoga Hospital.
Established in 2013 with about 40 physicians, the medical group now has more than 180 doctors, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
“With so many practitioners and specialties, it makes sense to bring in a dedicated individual to help manage the group and make sure we have the necessary systems in place to continue to grow and provide the best pos-
sible care,” said Dr. Joseph Bell, president of the group. “The timing was perfect. One of Saratoga’s most respected and beloved physicians was preparing to step away from full-time practice. We reached out to David immediately.”
Mastrianni retired from full-time practice in July. His new, part-time role with the group offers an excellent opportunity to continue more than three decades of service to the community.
“We are fortunate that so many of our best physicians have partnered with Saratoga Hospital to form the medical group,” he said. “It is a privilege to continue to work with them to support their success and benefit the region.”
Mastrianni grew up in Saratoga Springs and volunteered as a youth at Saratoga Hospital, where his father was president of the medical staff. Mastrianni left the region temporarily to complete his medical training, but returned in 1994 and with his wife, nurse practitioner Lucille Albergo, and established Saratoga’s first fulltime hematology-oncology practice.
A graduate of Albany Medical College, Mastrianni, who also has served on the Saratoga Hospital Board of Trustees, completed a residency at George Washington University Hospital in Washington and a fellowship at Beth Israel Hospital-Harvard Medical College.
