Saints volleyball on to semifinals

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » The Saratoga Catholic varsity girls volleyball team punched a ticket to the Section II Class C semifinals with a sweep of Greenville Friday.

The Saints beat the Spartans 25-7, 25-16, 25-10.

Grace Fornabia had 13 kills and 18 digs to lead Saratoga Catholic. Kennedy Murphy added six aces, three kills and seven digs, Elise Browell had five aces and 18 assists, Ani Crocker added three kills and four digs, MaryClare Pikus had six digs and Grace O’Reilly tallied three digs.

Mackenzie Kennedy recorded 46 digs to lead Greenville. AVERILL PARK 3, MOHONASEN 0 » Averill Park (13-3, 16-3), the No. 3 seed in the Section II, Class A bracket defeated Mohonasen, the No. 6 seed 25-21, 25-16, 25-15 in the quarterfin­al round of the Section II tournament. For the Warriors of Averill Park, Maddy Dunigan led with 16 kills and 7 blocks. Sydney Jones had 27 assists. Stephanie Jankovic had

Averill Park faces South Glens Falls at Broadalbin Perth at 7 p.m. Wednesday. COLUMBIA 3, NISKAYUNA 1» The Blue Devils beat the Silver Warriors 25-18, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23. Sam Brown had 12 kills and eight aces to lead Columbia while Julia Lettrick added 30 assists and Katie Hayes had 26 digs.

Columbia advances to the semifinals of the class AA tournament against Shenendeho­wa at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Stillwater. BETHLEHEM 3, GUILDERLAN­D 2 » The Eagles edged the Dutchmen 17-25, 25-21, 25-22, 24-26, 25-17. Amber Nunizato and Nicole McGrath had 11 kills apiece to lead Guilderlan­d in defeat. No stats were reported for Bethlehem. GALWAY 3, DUANESBURG 1 » Galway defeated Duanesburg by the scores of 2516, 25-15, 22-25, 25-15 to improve to 12-3 this season. Galway was led by the foursome Lindsey Zawisa, Emma Smith, Sydney Crawford and Katy Kurtzner. Zawisa had 12 kills, 10 points, 2 blocks and 13 digs. Smith had 11 kills, 16 digs. Crawford added 10 kills and five blocks. Kurtzner chipped in 12 points and two aces. Hannah Bramer added 31 assists.

SPARE TIME MONDAY ROLLERS » Art LeBlanc recorded a 583 series to lead all bowlers. Ken Schermerho­rn was second with a 503. Sylma LeBlanc had a 492 to lead the women’s division and Anita Ross was second with a 435 series.
