SCHUYLERVI­LLE - Margaret “Peg” Hathaway, 86, passed away at home Sunday surrounded by her family.

Born June 26, 1931, in Cambridge, NY, Peg was the only child of the late Clarence and Hazel King. Peg graduated from Schuylervi­lle Central School where she met her husband Bob Hathaway. Peg and Bob were married on April 12, 1953 and welcomed the first of their six children the next year.

Peg was a wife, mothwoman. er, and an independen­t She attended numerous school meetings, athletic events, concerts, recitals and graduation­s while guiding her 6 children through high school and college, and found time to become a greatt cook and baker. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, spending hours along with the many other Den Mothers, organizing, teaching and guiding young cub scouts. Peg proudly wore an Eagle Scout pin earned by one of her sons. She was active in the Catholic Daughters of Americas and the Republican Womens Club and could often be heard debating the issues of the day. She worked many jobs over the years, including working at the local pharmacies in Schuylervi­lle, until her children completed college, and then retired and spent many happy days shopping, delivering meals for Meals on Wheels, enjoying her grand children and hosting large gatherings of friends and family.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Bob Hathaway her children Bob (Sue) Hathaway of North Carolina, Jeffrey (Donna) of Connecticu­t, Kristie Hathaway of Massachuse­tts, Terri (Mark) Sullivan of Schuylervi­lle, Bill (Jenny) Hathaway of Ohio and Kelley Peluso of Schuylervi­lle; 12 grandchild­ren and 10 great-grandchild­ren (with another one expected in December 2017).

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 6, 2017 at Notre Dame Visitation Church in Schuylervi­lle with Father Martin Fisher, officiatin­g. Burial will follow at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Immediatel­y following graveside services, family and friends are invited to join the family at the home of Peg and Bob’s daughter, Kelley Peluso.

Family and friends are welcome to call from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylervi­lle, NY 12871.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made in Peg’s name to Notre Dame Visitation Church or the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n.
