Moreau Lake park has plenty of events on tap
MOREAU, N.Y. » The following events are planned at Moreau Lake State Park in November:
• Nov. 2: Knee High Naturalist (10 a.m.) This class is intended for children ages 1-6 and their parents/guardians along with any siblings. It includes a short story based on the outdoors followed by a short hike, a news release said.
• Nov. 3: Full Moon Hike and Star Gazing (7-9 p.m.) Led by the Park Naturalist. Also, a local astronomer will bring his telescope and show the night sky. Fees apply.
• Nov. 6: Potter’s Point Hike (1-3 p.m.) An easily navigable and trail free parcel of the park with views of the Hudson River. This is a flat, bushwhacking hike, the release said.
• Nov. 8: Spring Overlook Hike (1-3 p.m.) A steep but short hike up to the Spring Overlook, almost a mile long one way.
• Nov. 9: Pilates in the Park (9:30 a.m.) Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of lowimpact flexibility, muscular strength and endurance movements. The cost is $15 and participants must bring their own yoga style mat and water. For information go to: www.methodpilatessaratoga.com. • Nov. 9: Spring Overlook Hike (2-4 p.m.) A steep but short hike up to the Spring Overlook, almost a mile long one way.
• Nov. 10: Mud Pond Hike (8 a.m.) A flat hike on the nature trail before heading out to Mud Pond to see beaver lodges. Fairly easy, at about 2.5 miles round trip, the release said.
• Nov. 10: Lake Bonita Hike (1-3 p.m.) A park naturalist will lead this hike along the new property that just opened to the public. Fees apply.
• Nov. 14: Lake Ann Hike (11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.) A Park Educator will lead this hike through the woods at Lake Bonita to Lake Ann. This is a bit of a longer hike but on rather flat land. This hike goes about 2 miles one way to a bog. There is a lean-to at Lake Ann for a lunch stop.
• Nov. 15: Cottage Park Hike (9 a.m.- 1 p.m.) About 4-plus
miles round trip, this is a steep climb to views overlooking the Hudson River, the release said.
• Nov. 15: Moreau Overlook Hike (10 a.m.-1 p.m.) A strenuous, but short hike about a mile to views of Moreau Lake.

• Nov. 28: Eastern Ridge Hike (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) A nearly four-mile hike starting at the Spring Overlook parking area. Meet and pay at the park office.
• Nov. 29: Lake Ann Loop (9 a.m.-2 p.m.) A roughly four-mile hike, starting at the Spring Overlook parking area. Meet and pay at the park office.

Programs are held weather permitting and are subject to change. Reservations are required for all activities. Call the park office to confirm event date, time and location, and to make reservations. Participants should be prepared to spend time outside and are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
There are fees for all classes and some other activities. If there are no participants signed up, classes can be cancelled at the discretion of the park.
