Top teams meet in Super Bowls
No. 1 state-ranked Troy faces No. 16 Saratoga Springs Friday
Troy High (9-0) remained undefeated and atop the weekly New York State Sportswriters Poll Class AA football rankings released Wednesday morning following the Flying Horses’ 5014 win over Shenendehowa last week. The two will meet at 7 p.m. Friday at the University at Albany. Admission is $8.
Saratoga Springs (9-0) moved up three spots to No. 16 this week after its last-minute 29-22 win over No. 27 Shaker (7-2) Friday. Shenendehowa (7-2) closed out its 2017 season again as a honorable mention.
Class A
In Class A Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake remained at No. 4 after it’s 62-21 win over South Glens Falls Friday. Previously unranked Queensbury (6-3) jumped in at No. 19 this week after its 42-20 win over No. 23 Averill Park who fell 12 spots in the poll. The pair of Spartans will meet in the Class A Super Bowl 7 p.m. Saturday at Shenendehowa High School.
South Glens Falls (5-4) was a honorable mention after finish-
with a winning record for the first time since 1992.
Class B
In the north, Glens Falls (9-0) remained atop the Class B rankings after its 42-8 win over Hudson Falls. The Indians will meet No. 8 ranked Schuylerville (8-1), a 35-21 winner over Schalmont last week, 3 p.m. Saturday at Shenendehowa High School in the Class B Super Bowl. The contest is a rematch of an Oct. 6 contest won by Glens Falls 2714.
Class C
Cobleskill-Richmondville (7-2), Hudson Falls 5-4 and Schalmont (5-4) were honorable mentions.
Holy Trinity (8-1) moved up two spots to No. 8 after its 44-0 win over Chatham. Stillwater (8-1) moved up one spot to No. 10 as the two will meet in the Class C Super Bowl 7 p.m. Friday night at Lansingburgh High School. Chatham (6-3) fell to No. 18 and Mechanicville (72) closed out the season at No. 20.
Hoosick Falls (5-4) and Watervliet (6-2) were both honorable mentions.
Class D
In Class D Greenwich (9-0) kept its position at No. 2 after a 49-12 win over Hoosic Valley and will face No. 5 Cambridge (8-1) in the Class D Super Bowl 1 p.m. Saturday at Schuylerville High School. The Indians dropped Warrensburg 75-30 in the semifinal last Saturday. Warrensburg/Bolton (7-2) dropped one spot to No. 16 after the loss.
