MALTA - John J. “Chick” Myers, 77, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Albany Medical Center, following a long struggle with cancer.

Born on Aug. 24, 1940 in Troy NY, a son of the late John and Elaine (Clement) Myers, he was also predecease­d by his grandparen­ts Lewis and Edna (Metzger) Myers, sister-in-law Ronnie Myers (wife of Robert MyMyers). ers) and a nephew Michael Myers, (son of Robert

Survivors include his brothers, Robert Myers, Louis (wife Irene) Myers, James (wife Theresa) Myers and longtime friend and companion Jeffrey Groff (fiancé Tammy Mansfield); 19 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

John graduated from Troy High School and HudColEngi­neerArseAs­surance son Valley Community lege with an AAS degree as a Mechanical ing Technician. He retired from the Watervliet nal in 1994, after 28 years as a Quality Product Manager and gradteachu­ated from the apprentice Machinist Program at the Arsenal. John also retired from Skidmore College’s Dana Science Center as Machine Shop Supervisor in November of 2016 after 17 years. He enjoyed ing students and others with his machinist craft.

He always enjoyed life to the fullest and was an avid NY Giant football fan. He enjoyed outings with his family and friends and for thirteen years coordinate­d an annual event at West Point, NY, an Army foottakbal­l game for anyone who wished to enjoy the day. John always enjoyed ing charge of any event he was involved in.

Peter loved horses, cially going to the Saratoga Race Track in August. He loved the outdoors, golfing, fishing and skiing. Most of all he enjoyed spendrehis ing time with his family and friends and will be membered for generous spirit, his quick wit and humorous laugh by all who knew him.
