SARATOGA SPRINGS Steve J. Karamanos passed away peacefully at home on Sunday November 19, 2017 after a long and brave battle with cancer.

He was born in Athens, Greece on June 13, 1929. A proud American, he served as a Sergeant First Class in the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart for bravery during his service as a tank commander durveteran­s. ing The Battle of Old Baldy. For 45 years, he was the owner and proprietor of The Turf Tavern, a fined ingra gen we lad pa sing restaurant in Scotia, New York, providing cious hospitalit­y to erations of customers who frequented the “Turf” to enjoy his warm and coming manner. In dition to his family, Steve had three great sports sions: his beloved Boston Red Sox, his New England Patriots and enjoying oughbred racing at the Saratoga Racetrack every summer. He is survived by his ing family, including his beloved wife of 62 years, Fanny Karamanos, whom he married on August 21, 1955. He is also survived by his cherished daughters Terry Karamanos, of New York City, Nikki Karama JergrandMA nos of Centervill­e, MA and Sue (Karamanos) Lunde of Maplewood, New sey. He is also survived by his beloved four children Stephen Breski of New York City, Alex Breski of Centervill­e, and Andrew and Amelia Lunde of Maplewood, New Jersey. His son-inloving law Dick Lunde (husband of daughter Sue), and Leo P. Gorman (life partner of daughter Nikki) and great grandson Cole Breski, also survive him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the fun er Sat ur Sc he Or Cl inal which will begin day, November 25, at 9:45 a.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union St., nectady and at 10:30 a.m. at St. George’s Greek thodox Church, 107 ton St., Schenectad­y, where the funeral service will be conducted. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the callsering hours, a Trisagion vice will be conducted at 7 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in Park View Cemetery, Schenectad­y.
