COHOES, N.Y. » U-Haul Company of Eastern New York announced it is offering 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to families displaced by the Cohoes fire. Families needing more informatio­n about the 30 days self-storage assistance should contact the nearest U-Haul store, a news release said. According to the Cohoes Community Center’s Facebook page, they will be accepting donations, which can be dropped off there at 22-40 Remsen St. The United Church of Cohoes, at 123 Mohawk St., also posted on Facebook that it is in the process of potentiall­y setting up a spot for donations. Awards by Walsh, along with Cohoes Bowling Arena, will be raising funds for the victims of the Remsen Street fire. Awards by Walsh will be donating Cohoes Strong T-shirts that will list any businesses on the back of the shirt that would like to be a part of the fundraisin­g event. All of the donations received from local businesses will be payable to the fund that is suggested by the mayor. Awards by Walsh will donate the shirts and printing. Cohoes Bowling Arena will host a fundraisin­g event beginning at 3 p.m. on both Saturday, Dec. 16 and Sunday, Dec. 17. Each person donating $20 will receive two games of bowling and a Cohoes Strong T-shirt. Of the $20 donations, 100 percent will also be donated. Cohoes Bowl will donate the bowling. Pioneer Bank announced Friday it will collect monetary donations at all of its 22 branch locations throughout the Capital Region to support the Cohoes Fire Relief effort.
