Police arrest thirteen at underage Ballston party
BALLSTON, N.Y. » Thirteen people, including a dozen local teens, have been charged in connection with an alleged large underage drinking party at a home on Randall Road in Ballston.
The incident occurred on Nov. 25, when police responded to a 911 call about a possible burglary in progress, but instead found a large party going on.
Following an investigation by Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, it was determined that damage in the tens of thousands of dollars was done to the home, and that numerous items were taken from it, resulting in nearly a dozen felony arrests.
Individuals were charged at different times as the investigation continued, right up until this past Saturday, sheriff’s Lt. Jeffrey Brown said.
More than 30 people, mostly teens, were at the party, which was hosted by the homeowners’ son without his parents permission or knowledge. The son was not among those who were arrested. Parents were not home when the party occurred, police said.
James Schmidt, 25, of Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, was charged with supplying alcohol to underage persons and further endangering them. He was also charged with taking another person’s vehicle without their consent.
Alana Dalton, 16, of York Avenue in Saratoga Springs, was also charged with taking another person’s vehicle without their consent.
Charles Bennifield, Tyler Lumia and Riley Cage were charged additionally with stealing items from within the residence.
Tyrese Reeves and a 15-year-old juvenile were additionally charged with third-degree criminal tampering for allegedly discharging a fire extinguisher throughout the interior of the residence.
Lumia was arraigned before the village of Ballston Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $2500 cash/$5000 bond. The 15-year-old juvenile was turned over to his parents and referred to Saratoga County Family Court.
The remainder of the subjects were released and are scheduled to appear before the town of Ballston Court at a later date to answer to the charges.

• Chad Cruger Jr., 18, Newton Avenue, Saratoga Springs — Third-degree criminal mischief, a felony.
• Charles L. Bennifield Jr., 17, Route 9N, Greenfield Center — Third-degree criminal mischief, a felony; petit larceny.
• Connor Pressley, 18, Wagon Wheel Trail, Saratoga Springs — Third-degree criminal mischief, a felony. • James Schmidt, 25, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa — Third-degree criminal mischief, a felony; third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child; endangering the welfare of a child.
