Elks Club crowns area free throw champs
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » The Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge No. 161 held its annual basketball Hoop Shoot free throw shooting competition on December 2 at the Saratoga Spring Rec Center. At an Awards Ceremony held on December 14 at the Elks Lodge, awards were presented to all winners. The following were the winners of their age divisions: Connor Acton (boys 1011); Tommy Maurer (boys 1213); Morgan Brooking (girls 12-13); Kihl Kelly (boys 8-9); Sophia Ryan (girls 8-9) and Shea Canavan (girls 10-11).

OUR LADY OF LOURDES 68, SARATOGA SPRINGS 50 » Dolly Cairns scored 19 points and Kerry Flaherty added 12 but it wasn’t enough as Saratoga Springs’ varsity girls basketball team suffered its first defeat of the season 68-50 to Our Lady of Lourdes Saturday. TROY 61, MOHONASEN 70 » The Troy High girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season with a 61-47 victory over Mohonasen Friday night.
Jenalyse Alarcon and Alaina Holmes scored 14 points apiece to lead the Flying Horses (1-1 Suburban Council, 1-4 overall) in scoring while Nadia Brons added 10 points and Megan Bradley finished with nine. COLUMBIA 50, NISKAYUNA 42 » Lexi Van Vorst led the Blue Devils with 16 points, Emily Zeyak added 13 and Alysia Roldan finished with 10 in the Suburban Council win.
