Streets to close for First Night

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » The Saratoga Springs Police Department has released the following street closures for Sunday’s First Night festivitie­s.

• 5K race: Begins at 5;30 p.m., starting and stopping at the Skidmore College Sports Center.

The course is as follows: Skidmore College Perimeter Road to counterclo­ckwise loop on Perimeter Road, exit to Clinton Street to Clement and Greenfield avenues, to North Broadway to the Skidmore College Entrance, finishing at the sports center.

Street closures for the race are as follows: Skidmore College Perimeter Road, entire road closed from 5:30 to about 6 p.m. or until all runners are off roadway; Skidmore College Perimeter Road near sports center, closed from about 5:15 to 7:30 p.m.; Skidmore College Perimeter Road, North Broadway entrance, closed from 5:15 to around 7:30 p.m. or until all runners have cleared the area; Skidmore College North Broadway entrance, closed from 5:30 to around 7 p.m. or until all runners have completed race; East Avenue, closed at Maple Avenue to all westbound traffic approachin­g North Broadway from 5:30 to 7 p.m.; Clinton Street, closed at Clement Avenue to westbound traffic from 5:30 to 6 p.m.; Clement Avenue, closed from Clinton to State streets from 5:30 to 6 p.m.; Greenfield Avenue, closed from Clement Avenue to North Broadway from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

At about 6 p.m., access to Skidmore College will be via the Clinton Street entrance. Once on campus, thru traffic will not be allowed to pass the Sports center.

Traffic will be able to travel on the back side of the campus, but the North Broadway entrance/exit will not be open for use until around 7 p.m.

• Fireworks: Begin at midnight at Congress Park, with the Spring Street Parking being the designated viewing area.

Spring Street will be closed from Broadway to Circular Street at 11:15 p.m. until the end of the show. Putnam and Henry streets, from Spring to Phila streets, will also be closed.

• Several parking restrictio­ns are in place Sunday.

Parking will be prohibited on the west side of North Broadway from 4 to 8 p.m. to accommodat­e the 5K race.

Parking will be prohibited in the public parking lot on Spring Street between Putnam and Henry streets to accommodat­e fireworks viewing.

Parking will be prohibited on Spring Street between Broadway to Circular Street to accommodat­e fireworks viewing.

All alternate side parking provisions are in effect on all affected city streets and will be enforced, including Regent Street near the Lake Avenue Elementary School -- a First Night event site).

City police stressed that given snow conditions, that vehicles do not park on both sides of the street (where al-

alternate side parking restrictio­n signs are posted) to allow emergency vehicles access to all streets.

Parking will be prohibited on the east side of Broadway, from Spring Street to the Congress Park entrance, to accommodat­e CDTA shuttle buses.
