GLENS FALLS, N.Y. » The Adirondack Thunder play the second of three weekend games on Saturday when hosting the Brampton Beast in an ECHL North Division contest.

It’s a special occasion as 2018 Adirondack Hall of Fame inductees Neil Smith, Norm Maracle and Chris Tancill will be honored during a 5 p.m. reception at Heritage Hall, inside Cool Insuring Arena, highlighted by speeches from all three inductees, plus a questionand-answer session for fans.

The reception, which costs $5

to attend, is only open to those with a ticket to the 7 p.m. game. Light food and beverages are included.

“These three men each made giant contributions to the heritage of Adirondack Red Wings hockey for our region,” said Doug Burch, Adirondack Hockey Hall of Fame chairman. “Norm made more than 6,500 saves in the Red Wings nets, Chris scored 202 points in 147 Red Wings games and Neil, as general manager, engineered the rosters for two of the Red Wings Calder Cup championships.”

Smith went on to become general manager of the 1994 Stanley Cup New York Rangers.

The Thunder hosted Worcester on Friday and close out the weekend with a trip to Brampton where they’ll play Sunday.

Adirondack brought a two-game win streak into Friday’s battle, alone in second place and fourth in the Eastern Conference.

The Thunder knocked off first-place Manchester, 4-3, on Wednesday in overtime as Ty Loney, recently named to the ECHL All-Star Classic, recorded four points (1 goal, 3 assists) while linemates Shane Conacher and Troy Bourke had three points apiece.

Meanwhile, goaltender Drew Fielding made 29 saves for his fourth straight victory and his sixth overall on the season.

Saturday’s contest concludes a four-game homestand.

It’s one of the busiest times of the season as Adirondack finds itself playing seven times in 10 days, including back-to-back weekends with three games in three games. the Beast on
