CLIMATE ACTION WEBINAR: New York State has reaffirmed its commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 and 80% 2050 (from 1990 levels). A communities webinar from 10:30 a.m. to noon will offer guidance on facilitating inclusive, communitydriven planning processes and creating local climate action plans that reflect community priorities. This webinar can be accessed using an Android mobile phone, iPhone, iPad, or other computer running a Windows or Mac operating system. AWARENESS: January 11 is Human Trafficking Awareness Day. First Presbyterian Church of Ballston Spa, in conjunction with Albany Presbytery, will be hosting a special Awareness Evening from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the Church Hall. John Kelly, Law Enforcement Coordinator for Saratoga Center for the Family will offer a presentation. LWV BOOK CLUB: The League of Women Voters of Saratoga Non-Fiction Book Club will meet on Thursday January 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the Clifton Park Halfmoon Library to discuss “The Hacking of America” by Malcom Vance. PARK: Project FeederWatch, 10 a.m. Help count the beautiful birds that visit the Creekside Classroom. At the end of winter the data is sent to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology for other scientists to use. Use binoculars to identify and count birds. Participants will also have the opportunity to create a pinecone bird feeder so they can continue to count at home. This program is appropriate for bird enthusiasts of all ages and experience. WOMEN’S PRESS CLUB: A panel of top state journalists will assess the stories that made news in New York in 2017 and look ahead to 2018 during a luncheon discussion sponsored by the Women’s Press Club of New York State on Thursday, January 11, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 pm at the Il Faro Restaurant, 698 N. Pearl Street, Albany. The event is open to the public. The cost is $25 for Women’s Press Club members and $30 for non-members.
