Angelica Delgado and Alex Turner Real Judo Players of the Year

Angelica Delgado (27) and Alex Turner (25) have earned Real Judo Magazine’s Player of the Year honors for 2017. Delgado who is currently ranked No. 12 on the world ranking list was named 2017 Female Player of the Year having the best season for the American women. Among Delgado’s results for 2017 was taking 5th place at the Paris Grand Slam, picking up bronze medals at the Austrian Open, Pan Am Championsh­ips, Cancun Grand Prix and earning an invite to the World Masters. The 2017 Male Player of the Year was awarded to Turner who trains at the Jason Morris Judo Center in Glenville took 9th at the Paris Grand Slam, won bronze medals at the Pan Am Championsh­ips and Cancun Grand Prix along with making his first world masters. Turner (73kg) is currently ranked No. 18. Delgado and Turner both represent the New York Athletic club as well has their home dojos.

Shenendeho­wa ran out to a 33-18 halftime lead and cruised to a 65-48 Suburban Council win Tuesday night on the road at Averill Park. The Plainsmen were led by Abbas Merchant’s gamehigh 19 points and T.J. Sangare’s 18 points with Chris Hulbert dropping in an additional 17. Valigorski’s 17 points followed by Michael Talaveva with 14 and Connor Houle with 13.

Three Brothers players scored in double-figures Tuesday night as CBA cruised past Ballston Spa in Suburban Council action. Jordan King scored a gamehigh 17 points followed by Andrew Signor’s 13 and Pryce Wasula’s 11 points. Ballston Spa was led by Cooper Zwanka’s 12 points and Liam Danaher’s 11.

The Flying Horses jumped out to a 1713 first quarter lead, but the Dutchmen defense responded with a 15-8 run in the second quarter, extended in the third with a 20-6 run in Suburban Council action Tuesday night. Guilderlan­d’s Valencia Fontenelle-Posson scored a game-high 29 points as Aysia Pink added 14. Troy High was led by Jenalyse Alarcon with 19 points.

The Patriots claimed total pin fall against the Blue Streaks, 2,857 to 2,661 on their way to the Suburban Council win Wednesday. Saratoga’s Madison Duguay led the girls squad with a 206-587 series.

Shenendeho­wa earned a total pin win, 3,467-3,277 over Averill Park Wednesday. Shenendeho­wa’s Mike Westfall had the high triple with a 236-653 series followed by Anthony Yando’s 266-627 and Garrett Wolf’s 597. Averill Park was paced by Joe Kellar’s 215-590 series along with Parker Brown’s 238-587 and Keegan Mallory’s 543. SARATOGA 30, BALLSTON SPA 2 » Hunter Chandler led the Blue Streaks with a 279-727 series Tuesday afternoon. Ballston Spa’s Ricky Miller rolled a 242631 series for the Scotties.

Dominick Favata led the Silver Warriors with a 24-720 followed by Marcus Manzoni’s 237-655 and Chris Salamone’s 225-661 series Tuesday afternoon. Burnt Hills was paced by Jason Bellamny’s 224-602 series followed by Kyle Mercier’s 222-592 and Matt DeCerce’s 215-587. Niskayuna captured total pin fall, 3,635 to 3,256.

The Hoosick Falls bowling team bowled well in their home match against Stillwater on Monday.The Panthers won all four points and finished with a match total of 3,468 pins to Stillwater’s 2,794. Sophomores Evan Webster 225-656 and Owynn Arnold 208-601 led the way for Hoosick Falls while Kody Brundage 243-519 and Ryan Golden 194-512 led Stillwater. Saratoga’s Joe Amodio scored the lone goal for the Blue Streaks Wednesday night against visiting Shaker/Colonie at the Weibel Avenue Rink from an assist from Xavier Clark and Ryan Jones. The Jets saw Tyler Wilson assist on both goals, the initial tally by Joe Malloy and the eventual game-winner by Noah Savastio. Shaker/Colonie goalie Dan Malloy turned back 29 shots in the night with Saratoga’s Brad Blake making 11 saves.

Saratoga Springs swimmer Hans Fulton captured the 200-yard freestyle in two minutes, 16.24 seconds with Jason Zheng winning the 50-freestyle in 26.67 seconds. The Saratoga Springs quartet of Ray Niski, Casey Navin, Jack Young, and Calvin Baird won the opening 200-medley relay in 2:09.22. Shenendeho­wa’s Matthew Burns won the 200-yard freestyle in 1 minute, 59.73 seconds. Quinten De Man captured the 200-medley relay in2:14.00 with Jackson Homan winning the 50-freestyle in 23:32. Yang Zheng Foon was the top diver with 295.60 points. Brian Hardwin won the 100-butterfly in 57.39 seconds. Alexander Fabris went on to win the 100-freestyle in 53.68.

Burnt HillsBalls­ton Lake swimmer Alex Turczyn captured the 200-yard freestle in one minute, 52.97 seconds Wednesday afternoon along with the 500-freestyle in 5:06.98. Brandon Bardin captured the 100-butterfly in 56.40 seconds along with the 100-breaststro­ke in 1:06.43. Liam Picozzi won the 100-backstroke in 53.08. The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake foursome of Picozzi, Bardin, Evan Buckley and RyanBoard won the opening 200-yard medley relay in 1:44.86. The Spartan quartet of Board, Buckley, Picozzi and Turczyn won the 400-freestyle in 3:24.15

Bethlehem 99, Bunt Hills 82

With the score knotted at 36 on the scoreboard after 15 matches, Saratoga Springs came out the victor based on total matches won against Niskayuna Wednesday night to take the Suburban Council tilt, 37-36. Blue Streak wrestlers Jordan Sartin and (113) and Ryan DiGuiseppe (160) both won by pin fall with seven other grapplers earning decisions.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake earned a 47-30 Sububan Council win Wednesday night at home. Spartan’s Danny Jada (138), Vincent Daviero (182) and Justis Warren (285) each won by pin fall for Burnt Hills. Shaker’s Jashon Holmes (99), Michael Santore (106), Colby Pierson (132), Spencer Clements (170) also won by pinfall.

TAMRAC 48, MECHANICVI­LLE-STILLWATER 32 >>

Mechanicvi­lle’s Richie Latimer (132), Shawn Farrell (160), and Brian Cox-Manlapaz (182) all won by pin fall against Tamarac Wednesday night.
