SARATOGA SPRINGS - Ruth A. (Burt) Gunderson passed away on January 17, 2018 at the Wesley Health Care Center. She was 97. Born on January 5, 1921 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of late Arthur and Effie (Currier) Burt. Ruth was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School Class of 1938 and proudly served in the US Navy from 1943-1946, being honorably discharged on February 7, 1946. On September 7, 1952 Ruth married the love of her life, William E. Gunderson and the two spent 57 loving years together until his passing in 2009. She was a member of the US Navy Wave, Women of WWII, the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. as well as Women in Military Service. Ruth was employed with the Van Raalte Knitting Mill from 1939-1943, the New York Telephone Co. from 1946-1952, Pacific Telephone Co. from 1952-1981 as well as a 25 year employee of AT&T. She was a member of the Presbyteri­an-New England Congregati­onal Church, where she volunteere­d at the rural food soup kitchen as well as with the Economic Opportunit­y Council. She is survived by her nephews, Leonard Fosbrook, his wife Mary and their family of Queensbury, Richard Fosbrook, his wife Karen and their family of Arizona; one niece, Linda Wilkins, her husband John and their family of Ohio. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway (518-584-5373). Graveside services with military honors will be held in the spring at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd.,Schuylervi­lle.
