GREENWICH FREE LIBRARY: Last fall, the 7th grade students in Greenwich Junior High School read Linda Sue Park’s “A Long Walk to Water.” the true story of Salva Dut, a young boy forced to run from his home in South Sudan when war broke out in his village. Using the United Nations Refugee Agency website, students read stories of refugees from throughout history and from around the world and created over 90 refugee profiles. On Thursday, January 25, during an open reception from 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Hedbring community room of the public library, students will present the stories of refugees they researched, and community members can peruse over 70 stories currently displayed. KIDS’ MEGA CHALLAH BAKE: Making challah is more than just baking bread: it is a Jewish way to nourish your soul and spirit.
