SARATOGA SPRINGS - Forrest K. Traver passed away peacefully at The Wesley Community on February 10, 2018. He was 84 years old. Born on April 11, 1933 in Saratoga Springs, NY, he was the son of the late Lauren Traver and Hazel Ketchum Traver. Forrest graduated from Fort Edward High School in 1952. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952- 1956 as a Staff Sergeant. He received an A.A.S. in Electronic­s and worked as an Electronic Specialist-Engineer at General Electric in Hudson Falls, NY. Forrest was a volunteer member of the Maple Ave Fire Department since 1959. He owned and operated Traver’s Nursery since 1961 in the Saratoga area. In his leisure, he and his wife loved traveling the country in their RV. Forrest is predecease­d by his wife of over 52 years, Janet Howe Traver. She passed away on June 29, 2009. Forrest will be sadly missed by his daughters Lisa (Bill) Walbridge of Saratoga Springs, Julie (Ken) Weiss of Westford, MA, his son David (Robyne) Traver of Las Vegas, NV, his brother Gerald (Mabel) Traver of Whitehall, his sister Lorraine Westerman of Virginia, his 4 grandchild­ren, and 4 great grandchild­ren, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebratio­n of Mr. Traver’s life will be held by his family at a later date. Memorial donations in his honor may be made to Maple Avenue Fire Department or the Wesley Foundation.
