BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. » A Saratoga Springs man was convicted Tuesday of breaking into two homes, the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office said.

A Saratoga County Jury found Ramiz T. Hajratalli, 32, guilty of two counts of second-degree burglary, a felony, and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

On Aug. 11, Saratoga Springs police officers said Hajratalli was ar- rested after ille- gally entering a home and getting into a physical altercation with a resident.

Police said officers were sent to the corner of Ludlow Street and Jumel Place for a physical altercation shortly after midnight Aug. 11. The officers found Hajratalli and a 60-year-old man who was a resident of Jumel Place.

The male resident informed officers that, just a few minutes earlier, he had been asleep with his girlfriend when he was awoken by an odd noise in his bedroom, police said. The man woke up, observing Hajratalli standing at the threshold of his bedroom staring and them, police said. The resident yelled at Hajratalli, who quickly fled the house, police said. The resident chased and caught Hajratalli at Ludlow Street and Jumel Place, police said, and neighbors called 911. Hajratalli was not previously known to either resident of the Jumel Place home, police said.

On Tuesday, the District Attorney’s Office said Hajratalli had also entered a residence on Caroline Street, though not on the same day. Hajratalli had pried open the door to the victim’s apartment, and entered the bedroom where the victim was sleeping, the District Attorney’s Office said in a news release. Hajratalli fled when the victim woke up and yelled at him, the release said.

The trial began Feb. 5. The jury started deliberating at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, and delivered its verdict by 2 p.m., the release said.
