SARATOGA SPRINGS Nicholas E. Palmateer, 80, a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 23, 1937 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late, Sheridan and AnnaBelle (Suttles) Palmateer. In his early years, Nick worked for D&H Railroad, Saratoga Flour and later retired from C&B Sanitation in 1996. He enjoyed hosting garage sales, going to auctions and in his spare time, repairing and selling bicycles. In addition to his parents, Nick is predecease­d by his wife of 32 years, Geraldine. Survivors include his two daughters, Lenna (Kenneth) Companion, of Hadley and Mary Lou (Gus) Pakatar, of Middle Grove; his son, Nicholas (Doris Licari), of Lake Luzerne; two sisters, Edith Austin and Lucy Crandall; twelve grandchild­ren; four great grandchild­ren as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear friend, Sandra Harrington. Family and friends are invited to call from 10am to 1pm on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff, Inc. Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373). A funeral home service will be celebrated at 2pm and burial will follow in Greenridge Cemetery. All are invited to gather after the burial at the Maple Avenue Firehouse. Donations in Nick’s name may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
