ECAC hockey annouces All-League teams

ALBANY, N.Y. » ECAC Hockey announced the recipients of its annual all-league teams and allrookie team as selected by the league’s 12 head coaches.

The first-team is comprised of ECAC Hockey semifinal participants as Clarkson and Harvard lead the way with two student-athletes each on the team. Junior forward Ryan Donato was fifth in conference scoring averaging at 1.26 points per contest with 24 points on 17 goals and seven assists in in 19 games, while leading the league with 126 shots. The junior forward had a career high 14-game point streak (14 goals, eight assists) to open the season, and was the first player in college hockey to reach 20 goals this year, taking just 19 games to do it. Fellow Crimson teammate Adam Fox joins Donato on the first-team. The sophomore defenseman finished the season first among ECAC Hockey defensemen with an average of 1.00 points per game.

The league’s third leading scoring with 26 points, forward Sheldon Rempal, from Clarkson was selected to the firstteam along with teammate Kelly Summers, who appeared in all 22 league games, registering 38 blocks and led conference defenseman in power-play points (3g-10a-13pts).

Rounding out the forwards on the first-team is Princeton’s Max Véronneau, who led the league

in scoring (37 points) and assists (25), while scoring a point in 17 of 22 league games.

Matthew Galajda, Cornell, who posted a 15-2-2 league record and his 1.34 goals-against average in league play was the lowest since Cornell’s own David McKee in 2004-05 (1.17) was named the league’s first-team all-league goaltender. It’s also the lowest goals-against average by a freshman in league-play since those statistics became available in the 197879 season. He only allowed 26 goals, while making 471 saves in conference action, boasting a .948 save percentage.

Second team forwards were Anthony Angello, who led the Big Red in conference scoring (12g-9a-21pts); Princeton’s Ryan Kuffner, who recorded the second highest point total (32) in 22 league games; and Joe Snively from Yale, who averaged 1.32 points per game in league action.

The defenders are Terrance Amorosa, Clarkson, who was a key component on Clarkson’s toprated power-play with nine (3-6) power-play points in league-play and Quinnipiac captain Chase Priskie, who scored 16 points in 22 league games.

Goaltender Colton Point was selected an all-league second team member. Point posted a 9-6-2 league record on the season he was a three-time ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week.

Members of the thirdteam are Josh Teves, Princeton, who Led the defensemen with a point per game through the regular-season and fellow blue-liner Yanni Kaldis, Cornell, who was on the ice for just 11 goals against at even strength, which is sixth-fewest for defensemen playing all 22 league games. Two goaltenders tied for third-team honors as Jake Kielly backstopped Clarkson to its best ECAC Hockey showing in 10 years as the Green and Gold were with a 12-5-5 league-play and Jake Kupsky posted the third best conference winning percentage (.808) with a 10-2-1 record for Union. The three forwards on the squad are Ryan Scarfo, Union, who was second in the league among seniors in scoring; Odeen Tufto, Quinnipiac, who was a finalist for the league’s rookie of the year award and Clarkson’s Nico Sturm, who was top player in the league and country at the face-off circle winning 62.2 % of his draws.

The all-rookie team is comprised of some impactful players as forward Odeen Tufto led Quinnipiac in scoring with 25 points on five goals and 20 assists; netminder Matthew Galajda led league in shutouts with seven in conference action; Clarkson forward Jack Jacob averaged one point per game in league-play (22 points in 22 games); Jack Badini had seven goals in league play - tied for second among the Crimson; Reilly Walsh led Harvard defenseman with six goals; and Nick Austin tied for second with 18 points among Colgate skaters.
