BALLSTON SPA - Joan (Parrelle) Hofmann, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Saratoga Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 25, 1934. Joan, a lifelong resident of Ballston Spa, married Carl O. Hofmann on January 20, 1951. Joan was a wife and homemaker for many years; she was also the loving mother to 10 children, grandmothe­r to 13 grandchild­ren and 14 great grandchild­ren. After raising her children, Joan went to work for Saratoga County Maplewood Manor Nursing home in 1983. She worked as a Certified Nursing Aide for 16 years, retiring in 1999. With her compassion and huge heart, Joan loved working the “midnight” shift taking pride in caring for the residents that she considered her extended family. Joan loved spending time with her family and friends celebratin­g all holidays, birthdays and special events. She loved traveling, especially visiting her daughter and family in Virginia Beach, VA. Joan loved playing the slot machines at the Saratoga Casino and her weekly Bingo games at the Ballston Spa Elks Club. Joan was predecease­d by her husband Carl O. Hofmann; parents Renier and Helen Parrelle; and sister Rita Pastore. Joan is survived by her brother Ronald Parrelle (Pat); children C. Michael Hofmann of Ballston Spa, David Hofmann (Michele) of Saratoga Lake, Sally Wilson (Gregory) of Halfmoon, Carla Manning (Jerald) of Ballston Spa, Robert Hofmann of Ballston Spa, Charles Hofmann of Ballston Spa, Mary King (Dennis) of Virginia Beach, VA, Susan Hofmann (Steven Cross) of Greenfield Center, Lisa Taylor (Thomas) of Saratoga Springs and Scott Hofmann (Melissa) of Ballston Spa; grandchild­ren Rebecca, Adam, Chad, Travis, Jessica, Erika, Robbie, Brandon, Kyle, Shane, Nicole, Shannon, and Elizabeth; 14 great grandchild­ren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10am Friday, March 16 at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Burial will follow in Ballston Spa Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 15 from 4pm to 7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributi­ons in memory of Joan may be made to her favorite charity, St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Massry Family Children’s Emergency Center at Albany Med. The family would like to thank the caring staff of the ER and ICU Units of Saratoga Hospital for their care and compassion, and Dr. DelGiacco and Dr. Gelman for their long term care of Joan.
