SARATOGA SPRINGS Anne Marie Wakeman passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 63. Annie was born September 1, 1954, in Suffern, New York. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Lucille Ferretti. She grew up in Nanuet, New York and graduated from Albertus Magnus High School. She then attended SUNY Potsdam, and graduated with a B.A. in Studio Art. After college she worked in Albany, NY as a graphic artist for the State Assembly and later SUNY Albany. It was in Albany that Annie met Rick, her loving husband – they would have celebrated their 30th anniversar­y this coming September. Annie was married to Richard Craig Wakeman on September 24th, 1988, at St. Anthony’s Shrine Church in Nanuet, NY. They made their home in Saratoga Springs where they raised their three children.

Annie brought light and laughter to all those around her, and she cherished her dear friendship­s from all parts of her life, from childhood, college, young adulthood, and motherhood. She had many great adventures over her lifetime, including a trip around the world with her mother. A talented artist, she added beauty to everything she did, especially in her volunteer work at Caroline St. Elementary School. Above all, Annie could always make you laugh, a beautiful gift she brought to all who knew her. She had a great strength of spirit and grace and triumphed, despite facing cancer three times over the last 12 years. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Annie is survived by her loving husband Richard Craig, daughter Juliana Marie, two sons Alexander Craig and Benjamin Richard, and step-daughter Kerri Marie. She is also survived by her sisters, Adele (Rick) Ferretti of Syracuse, NY and Catherine Rose (John) Sengenberg­er of Steubenvil­le, OH, and brothers Henry Jr. (Anna) of Milan, Italy, Robert of Knoxville, TN, and Mark (Theresa) of Spring Lake, NJ. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. Annie was a long-time communican­t of St. Clement’s Church in Saratoga Springs, and also St. Mary’s in Ballston Spa. The family will be receiving friends at William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY, on Monday, March 19, from 4-7pm.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 20 at 10am at St. Clement’s Church in Saratoga Springs, NY. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Donations may be made in loving memory of Annie Wakeman to the American Cancer Society: Relay For Life of WPI at 43 Nagog Park Ste. 110, Acton, MA 01720.
