WILTON - Joseph R. Hudson of Adirondack Circle, Saratoga Springs passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Saratoga Hospital with his loving family at his side following a period of declining health. He was 68. Born on July 10, 1949 in Saratoga Springs, NY; he was the son of John Henry Hudson and Bernice Francis (Wicks) Hudson. Joe was a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs. For more than 37 years, he was a taxi driver for various companies that served the City of Saratoga Springs including Capital Land Taxi and Saratoga Taxi. He was a member of Soul Saving Station for every Nation Church in Saratoga Springs. Pop, as his children called him, was an honest, straightfo­rward, giving man! He bent over backwards to help everyone he could. Family togetherne­ss was extremely important to him, he took on a huge family full of children and grandchild­ren and even great grandchild­ren; he made them his own. He met the love of his life, Rose in 1984, they married in 1997; he made her the happiest woman in the world! He was an amazing story teller and everyone enjoyed his company! He will be remembered for his sense of humor and jokes. Joe also enjoyed horseback riding, watching western movies, and game shows; but Gun Smoke was his absolute favorite. He also loved playing the guitar- Elvis and Ricky Nelson were his favorite musicians. He had a love hate relationsh­ip for the NYS lottery. He and his wife would take long drives around Saratoga, he enjoyed observing the town he loved so much. Having coffee at Stewarts in the crisp fresh air or sitting in front of the post office on Broadway watching traffic and enjoying his wife’s company was priceless.

Besides his parents, three brothers Ray, Robert, and John Hudson and sister Helen Lasher all passed on before him. He leaves his loving wife of 33 years Rose M. (Harrington) Hudson of Saratoga Springs; four sons: Joseph Hudson of Ballston Spa, Mike Hudson of Cohoes, Anthony Wicks and wife Gina of Saratoga Springs, and Albert Wicks of Saratoga Springs; five daughters: Sheryl Burnell of Saratoga Springs, Janice Wicks and spouse Sherry of Deland, FL, Sarah Wicks and husband Patrick Collins of Greenfield, Stacy Wicks and husband Tyrone of Wilton, and Stephany Quevillon and husband Michael (whom he cherished) of Porter Corners; (Mike was his caregiver every day for the past few years, pop accepted him as his own the day he met his daughter); 18 Grandchild­ren: Kailee, Mariah, Mariska, Gerald, Christophe­r, Xavier, Charity, Taylor, Amber, Karrisa, Devon, Zanasia, Kaisha, Tatiana, Alique, Darius, Destinee, and Trevon; 8 great-grandchild­ren: Stephon, Aubrey, Lamaer, Naveya, Avreigh, Azariah, Silas, and Linquin; His Best Friend Frederick Priest, known as Tinker, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of extended friends and church family. A Home Going Service will be held at the family church at 11 am Thursday, March 29th at Soul Saving Station for Every Nation, 62 Henry Street, Saratoga Springs. Rev. Arnold J. Byrd, Jr., will officiate. Burial will be at Greenridge Cemetery, Saratoga Springs. Friends and family may call at the church (Soul Saving Station) from 8 am to 10 am prior to the service.
