National Park Week events on schedule
STILLWATER, N.Y. » Saratoga National Historical Park has several special events and programs planned to observe National Park Week from April 21-28.
• Saturday, April 21 (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) -- Junior Ranger Day. Children and their families can join in a variety of free, hands-on activities including a touch table with animal skins and skulls, talk to a wild lands firefighter, run in a relay race, dress up in a uniform, or complete a Junior Ranger activity book.
Children will earn their free Junior Ranger badge by participating.
• Sunday, April 22 (Noon-1 p.m.) -- A lunch presentation by Ranger Megan Stevens about lesser-known topics from the American Revolution, and the origin of the National Park Service.
• Thursday, April 26 (7-9 p.m.) -Join park naturalist Linda White for a short hike to see the dancing woodcock. Meet by the flagpole in the visitor center parking lot at 7 p.m. and walk to Tour Stop 5 and back (1.5 miles each way). See dusk-time aerial displays by woodcocks, listen for owls, and look for deer or fox.
Bring a flashlight, water, insect repellent, and wear sturdy shoes. Event cancelled if raining.
