Man gets 8 years in jail
Took part in robbery
BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. » A Saratoga Springs man was sentenced in Saratoga County Court on Monday to eight years in prison for his involvement in a robbery that led to the victim being injured, authorities said.
Isaac Greco, 22 of Vanderbilt Terrace, previously pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery, authorities said. He admitted that in the early morning hours of July 4, 2017, he and a codefendant forcibly stole property from another man in downtown Saratoga Springs, and during the robbery caused serious physical injury to the victim, authorities said.
Greco and his codefendant preyed upon an intoxicated man by luring him to a dark alley where they robbed and cut his face with a knife, causing a permanent disfigurement, authorities said.
Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen praised the Saratoga Springs Police Department for conducting a thorough investigation, which included utilizing a number of different types of surveillance equipment located throughout downtown Saratoga Springs.
“The investigators were able to locate and copy a number of different surveillance videos depicting the defendants as they led the victim away from the crowded streets of Saratoga Springs to a dark alley where they robbed and assaulted him with a weapon, causing him serious injury,” said Heggen.
Assistant District Attorney, Charles Bucca, prosecuted the case.
“This significant eight-year prison sentence was sought because of the seriousness of the offenses, as well as the defendant’s prior criminal history,” said Heggen.
