AUTISM EVENT: For the tenth year the PS 234 Developmental Disabilities & Autism course at Skidmore College has organized a series of events regarding Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The goal of these events is to inform and increase acceptance for ASD in the Skidmore and larger Saratoga communities. On April 19, the award-winning film “Swim Team” chronicles the extraordinary rise of the Jersey Hammerheads, capturing a moving quest for inclusion, independence and a life that feels winning. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF DANCE: The National Museum of Dance’s newest exhibition, “Gender Neutral,” explores the history of non-traditional gender roles in dance from the eighteenth century to the present day. The opening reception will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 19. The all-male, comic ballet troupe Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, who serve as the centerpiece of the exhibition, will be on hand for a meet and greet. EARTH DAY HIGHWAY CLEAN-UP: Battenkill Conservancy’s Earth Day Highway Clean Up happens on Saturday, April 21, beginning at 9 a.m. Volunteers will meet at the State Line Rest Area off State Route 313, roughly 5 miles north of the Village of Cambridge, for coffee and donuts provided by a local Dunkin Donuts franchise before being getting safety vests and large bags to pick up trash along the highway. Trout Unlimited Chapter members will share clean up duties along the main roads. The April 21 clean up is the first of four cleanup events where the BkC and TU join forces to maintain the highway free of trash along this prime stretch of the Battenkill. HEALTHY KIDS DAY: On Saturday, April 21, the Saratoga Regional YMCA is holding a free community event to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active at the annual YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day®, the Y’s national initiative to improve health and well-being for kids and families.
