Event set for today
Bicentennial celebrated
CORINTH, N.Y. » The town of Corinth is celebrating its official 200th birthday on Friday with bicentennial events.
A spaghetti dinner to benefit the Bicentennial Committee is scheduled for 5-6:30 p.m. at Corinth Central School on Oak Street.
Tickets are $10 at the door ($5 for children) and include pasta, salad, bread, dessert and refreshments. Proceeds will help to defray the cost of future bicentennial celebration events.
At 6:30 p.m., high school business law students and town Supervisor Richard Lucia will lead an historical re-enactment of town meetings. Also, the 1968 time capsule will be opened and a new time capsule will be created.
The Corinth High School Select Chorus will perform as well.
Many other bicentennial events are planned. These include: • May 20 — Corinth EMS Day; • May 20-26 — EMS Open House Week;
• May 30 — Veterans Memorial Day Parade; • June 14 — Flag Day; • June 27 — Town Fun Day: Block Dance for Kids, Teen Events;
• July 7 -- Independence Day Celebration & Parade;
• August 5 -- “Down by the Riverside”;
• August 11 -- International Paper Day;
• August 12 -- Faith of our Fathers Sunday with Bell Ringing;
• August 17 -- 1960s Party;
• August 18 -- Parade and Firematic and EMS events;
