Saturday, May 12 4H WALKATHON:

The 44th annual Saratoga County 4-H Walkathon takes place on Saturday, May 12, at the Saratoga Spa State Park. The walk starts and ends at the Pavilion. Registrati­on begins at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K walk will start at 10:15 a.m. The Walkathon is open to the public. The fee is $10. All proceeds of the event benefit the 4-H Training Center located on Middle Line Road outside of Ballston Spa. Walkers with at least $50 in pledges will receive a commemorat­ive t-shirt. BALLSTON SPA CEMETERY ASSOCIATIO­N:

The annual meeting of the Ballston Spa Cemetery Associatio­n will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 10 a.m. in the Ballston Spa Village Library. Members of the Associatio­n and the general public are invited to attend. BATTENKILL CHORALE:

The Battenkill Chorale continues its 23rd season with “Rising Above the Battlegrou­nd: The Music of France and Belgium,” on Saturday, May 12 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 13 at 4 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church at 67 Main St. in Hoosick Falls. Guest Conductor Gene Marie Callahan leads the Chorale and organist Erich Borden in Jongen’s Mass (Opus 130), choral works by Flor Peeters and Gabriel Faure, and a brass arrangemen­t by Claude Debussy and Charles-Marie Widor’s famous Toccata from Symphony No. 5, arranged for organ and brass. CORNELL HILL FIRE TOWER:

The Historic Cornell Hill Fire Tower and Fire Ranger observer’s cabin will be open from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. for those who want to get a birds-eye view of the park while learning about the life of a fire tower monitor. On Saturday May 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be a New York State approved Defensive Driving Class at First Baptist Church, 45 Washington Street, Saratoga Springs. Save 10% on your base auto insurance for the next three years & receive up to 4 points off your driving record according to New York State Department of Motor Vehicle guidelines. The fee is $35; bring a friend for $30 apiece. A portion of the fee goes to First Baptist Church. Class size is limited. DOCUMENTAR­Y FILM SCREENING:

Director Lysa Heslov’s documentar­y, “Served Like a Girl,” follows several American women who were wounded in action and are now transition­ing from soldier to civilian after serving their country in Iraq and Afghanista­n. Struggling with PTSD, homelessne­ss, broken families, divorce, serious illness, and military sexual abuse, these remarkable women harness humor to adapt to the emotional, social and economic challenges they face, through the Ms. Veteran America competitio­n. HISTORIC HOMES TOUR:

On the Saturday of Mother’s Day Weekend the Saratoga Springs Preservati­on Foundation, along with Honorary Co-Chairs Dave and Stephanie Collins, will welcome spring with the 2018 Historic Homes Tour. This highly anticipate­d event offers the rare opportunit­y to see the interiors of private historic homes of Saratoga Springs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 12. KAYADEROSS­ERAS CREEK CLEAN-UP:

Friends of the Kayadeross­eras (FOK) hosts its Annual Spring Clean Up Day of access points and other lands along the Kayadeross­eras Creek on Saturday, May 12, at 9:30 a.m. The objective is to designate

teams to specific sites to pick up as much unwanted debris as they can carry out. FOK will provide maps, trash bags, detailed printouts of each sight and a hot lunch post clean-up. Volunteers will meet at the Kelley Park pavilion in Ballston Spa at 9:30 a.m. Lunch for volunteers will be at 12:30 p.m. back at Kelley Park. Volunteers are reminded to wear weather- and task-appropriat­e clothing, such as long pants, long-sleeved shirts, boots and a sturdy pair of work gloves, preferably leather, and to bring their own bottle for water. OLD CHATHAM COUNRY STORE: In 2016 Shaker Museum | Mount Lebanon received a $750,000 grant from the Henry Luce Foundation to put its collection­s online. Over the past year, Boston-based photograph­er John Mulligan has spent one week per month at the collection­s storage facility in Old Chatham photograph­ing Shaker objects. Catskill-based artist Richard Saja has taken those images and reimagined them into playful new artworks he calls “digital quilts.” Those works will be on display at the Old Chatham Country Store from May 3 through June 5, with an opening reception on Saturday, May 12, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Limited editions of the prints will be on sale throughout the run of the exhibition to benefit the museum. The reception is open to the public and all are welcome.

BIKE THE BRIDGE: Celebrate Mom by getting outside and having some fun with the whole family at the Second Annual Mother’s Day Bike the Bridge event at Hudson Crossing Park on Sunday, May 13, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. It’s a perfect way to celebrate Mom – or just the return of biking season - by taking the opportunit­y to ride your bike over a variety of terrains while checking out Hudson Crossing Park’s ponds, fields, nature trails, and historic 125 year old bridge.
