SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. » The newly renovated downtown music venue Putnam Place celebrated its recent changes on Wednesday with members of the local community.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the 63a Putnam St. business, formerly known as Putnam Den, on Thursday afternoon with the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce.

Founder and owner Tiffany Albert of Saratoga Springs, joined by her partner Anthony Ianniello, commemorated the completion of their renovation and rebranding at the event. Following the ceremony the venue hosted an open house featuring live musical performances by Rich Ortiz and DJ Trumastr.

Originally started in fall 2017, the revamped venue has been entirely reimagined by AnnBritt Newey and Nick LaFontaine, featuring a brand new elegant interior design, a new full-service bar and seating throughout, and a private VIP section for guests as well as an all-new stage, state-of-the-art sound system and large video LED screen. Outside, patrons can now enjoy a patio with ample seating, builtin fireplaces, a second stage and an outdoor bar.

With these changes, Albert aims for Putnam Place, an already-popular nightlife destination, to become the premier entertainment center in downtown Saratoga Springs.

“It’s a new chapter in my life,” said Albert on why she decided to pursue this renovation project at the venue. “Every aspect of my life is changing and evolving and it was time to step it up a notch.”

The general admission capacity of Putnam Place is 400 to 500 people, depending on the show.

The musical lineups at Putnam Place include; local, regional and national touring acts, primarily of the original variety, and is a premier dance club with the area’s hottest DJs spinning the latest music and timeless hits.

Over the years Putnam Place has hosted acts including Blues Traveler, Rusted Root, Robert Randolph, Ghostface Killah, Boyd Tinsley and Tim Reynolds of Dave Matthews Band, The Wood Brothers, Slick Rick, Brett Scallions (Fuel), Aaron Carter, Ryan Montbleau, Twiddle, Keller Williams, Donna the Buffalo, Melvin Seals & JGB, Max Creek, Infamous Stringdusters, Anders Osborne, The Figgs, Paranoid Social Club, Rustic Overtones, Robert DeLong, Assembly of Dust, Luciano and Deer Tick, not to mention Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Bernie Worrell (Parliament Funkadelic) and Tom Constanten (Grateful Dead).

In addition to special performances, weeknight drink specials and theme nights like Open Mic and Jazz at the Place are always in play, with a new Dark Day Lit Night series to debut on Mondays this summer.
