Downtown Troy to have a carnival theme
TROY, N.Y. » Downtown Troy is giving event-goers a carnival-themed evening this Troy Night Out.
June’s Troy Night Out, scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in the city’s the downtown district, will feature a carnival theme throughout its many attractions.
Presented by the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District, attendees are invited to shop, dine and explore downtown Troy while supporting its many unique small businesses.
All are encouraged to get out and about in downtown Troy to play a game, have some treats and enjoy the fun by spending a warm summer night perusing the sights, sounds and tastes of carnival.
Event-goers can start off with a stretch at a special Muscle Recovery Workshop at Troy Dance Factory, create a carnival mask at Canvas, Corks and Fork or try out bejeweled face decorating at Sawtooth Jewelry Studio.
The YWCA of the Greater Capital Region is offering face painting and activities for all ages as well.
Celebrating their 20th year of business this Troy Night Out, shoppers can receive a free pair of earrings (vintage or new) with a purchase at Aurora’s Boutique, and be all set for a night out.
Visitors will test their eye and aim at Muddaddy Flats with a “Shoot your Discount” game, hit the bullseye with darts at The Bradley, try their hand at shuffleboard at The Ruck, take the kids to get a free balloon at Collar City Sweet Shoppe and have their fortune told at Tara Kitchen.
Mindful Intentions and Fox Hollow Rustics are offering games, raffles and fresh cotton candy and Wooden Shoe Trading Company will show guests how to play some of their favorite European games, in addition to winning in all ways by donating or adopting from Peppertree Dog Rescue at the shop.
One and all can step right up to McAddy’s Pub for games, kettle corn and fried dough or quench your thirst with drink specials and surprises at Elixir 16.
Enigmatic Escapes, Troy’s only escape room, will offer a treat from their treasure chest with an opportunity to win free admission to Secret of the Study.
Carnival-inspired fare like mini dogs at Franklin Alley Social Club, kimchi dogs at Sunhee’s Farm and Kitchen, hot dog scrapple at new restaurant Nighthawks and Primo Botanica churros y chocolate for dessert will all be available for attendees to taste.
Guests can grab a handful of popcorn complete with herbal toppings at Jean’s Greens, animal
crackers at FunCycled, root beer soda at Truly Rhe and cool off with new smoothie pops at Juice Factory VII.
Adults can indulge in watermelon spiked lemonade at The Daily Grind, blood orange tea-infused sangria at the Whistling Kettle and just out of the BID district, The Little Rice Ball will highlight the Japanese street eat okonomiyaki (loaded cabbage pancakes).
Lots of creativity will be on display for Troy Night Out, including poetry at PH GALLERY + STUDIO, Creative Action Unlimited at The Arts Center of the Capital Region and the opening of “Once Upon A Time ... A Fairy Tale Show” at Argyle Gallery.
Artists like Small Town Cinema, Carl Daniels, Aurora Birch and Aisha Burns will perform their musical talents at different downtown sites too.
