KARNER BLUE BUTTERFLY WALK: Karner blue butterflie­s of the second brood have been observed at Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park. The most accessible trails for observing the endangered butterflie­s are at Camp Saratoga where the trail leaves from parking lot #1 on Scout Road. The other trails are Old Gick Farm and Fox which are accessed from parking areas off of Route 50, just north of King Road. Guided nature walks to look for butterflie­s will take place on Wednesdays from July 11 - August 1, at 11 a.m. and again at 4 p.m. The walks leave from the parking area for the Saratoga Sandplains Wildlife Management Area Old Gick Farm on Route 50, just under four miles past Wilton Mall. SCHOHARIE CROSSING: Join an environmen­tal educator on Wednesday, July 11. at 5:30 p.m. at Schoharie Crossing State Park for a conservati­on-themed walk to learn about Leave No Trace and how it relates to protecting wildlife and the historic site. This program will meet at the Visitor Center for an hour-long walk around the site. This program is open to all ages, but has been designed for families with children ages 5 and up. The hike is a less than two mile round-trip and will be weather dependent (cancelled in the event of heavy rain or thundersto­rms).
