GAINESVILLE, FLA. » Two-time national champion and 2007 Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow will be inducted into Florida’s ring of honor, becoming the sixth player to receive the honor.

The school announced Wednesday that Tebow will be recognized during the LSU-Florida game on Oct. 6. His name will be unveiled on a wall inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The display will now feature Tebow and the other five members of the program’s ring of honor: linebacker Wilber Marshall, running back Emmitt Smith, 1966 Heisman winner and famed coach Steve Spurrier, 1996 Heisman winner Danny Wuerffel and defensive end Jack Youngblood. DURHAM, N.C. » The NCAA will allow Duke center Jack Wohlabaugh to play this fall after transferring from Ohio State.

Wohlabaugh joined the Blue Devils program in January with three seasons of eligibility remaining. Transfers typically must sit out a year at their new school per NCAA rules, but Duke said Wednesday that the NCAA has approved a waiver request that grants immediate eligibility to the redshirt sophomore.

It provides a boost for Duke’s offensive line after losing twoyear starting center Austin Davis. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Wohlabaugh participated in Duke’s spring practices behind redshirt senior Zach Harmon, though all 22 of Harmon’s career starts had come at the left or right guard positions. NEW YORK » The New York Giants have spent a 2019 thirdround draft pick on Western Michigan cornerback Sam Beal, and Washington has selected Virginia Tech cornerback Adonis Alexander in the sixth round Wednesday.

New York will surrender its third-round pick in next April’s draft in Nashville, while the Redskins give up a sixthrounder.

Both players were ruled academically ineligible for the upcoming college football season and entered the supplemental draft.

Not selected were Mississippi State safety Brandon Bryant, Grand Valley State running back Martayveus Carter and Oregon State linebacker Bright Ugwoegbu.
