Letter: Cobb will be good U.S. Rep.
If I were to write a job description of a Congressional representative, requirements would include knowledge and first hand understanding of the constituents and the various economies throughout the district, a working knowledge of local governments, an understanding of the geography and how that affects lives, and the demographics and history of the region.
Personal qualities would include the ability to connect with constituents, a passion for public service, the ability to communicate clearly and honestly, and a sense of humor.
Tedra Cobb is applying for the job. With her 30 years of living, working and serving in the district, she more than meets the requirements. The incumbent meets none of the requirements. Not only that, Stefanik does not live in the district, never has, probably never will. As a member of the Washington County Board of Supervisors, we hire department heads who live in the county. When I taught school, the School Superintendent was expected to be a member of the community they served.
Elise Stefanik is no more than a tourist, visiting the area when it serves her purpose. Tourists routinely travel for relaxation or to visit new and different places. As a tourist, Elise, shows up every two years looking for votes. On the off years, she ventures North for photo ops and orchestrated town halls.
Tedra Cobb has more than my vote on Tuesday November 6th. She has my commitment to continue to work with her team to ensure that she is our next Congressional Representative for CD 21. We need her, we can do this and she can win the 2018 Election.
Sara Idleman Greenwich Idleman is the supervisor for the town of Greenwich.
