18TH CENTURY DAY: General Philip Schuyler’s 1777 home on Route 4 in Schuylervi­lle will be the setting for the re-creation of a slice of colonial life on Sunday, August 12, from noon to 5 p.m. Colonial craftsmen will take you back to a time when all things for the home were handcrafte­d. Over 25artisans will demonstrat­e their crafts much as they were plied over 200 years ago on Schuyler’s estate. Visitors can tour the Schuyler House, furnished as it would have been in the General’s day, listen to music of the era, watch sheep shearing, dip candles, churn butter, play colonial games and enjoy light refreshmen­ts. BIRD WALK: Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site will host an early morning bird walk with environmen­tal educator George Steele on Sunday, August 12, at 6:30 a.m. from Yankee Hill Lock on Queen Anne Road.
