Hadley- Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather, Preston Chandler, left our home but not our hearts on Tuesday, August 14. Preston was born on February 9, 1936, in Lake Luzerne. He was the son of Ernest and Dora Chandler, and was predeceased by six brothers, Ernest, Harold, Earl, Eugene, Lloyd, and Donald; as well as eight sisters, Rose, Norma, Agnes, Elnora, Eldora, Geneva, Jeannette, and Emma. He is also predeceased by one grandson, Jared Preston Chandler. Preston is survived by his brother David and sister Gladys Smead, as well as four sisters-in-law, Pearl, Jean, Cathy and Lynda. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Preston lived a life marked by his love of Jesus, his wife Suzanne, and his family. Preston and Suzanne met at church, and married in 1958. This year the two happily celebrated 60 years of marriage. Anyone who met them could see the love they shared. Together they raised six children: Wendy Korznat (Tom), Vicki Stephenson (Jim), Mark Chandler (Cindy), Lisa Frinton (Rick), Brian Chandler (Rich), Craig Chandler (Jeannine), and son-in-law Dick Bosford. He was adored by his grandchildren, Joshua Chandler (Crystal), Daniel Bosford (Crystal), Dean Bosford (Maria), Jeremy Chandler (Melanie), Eric Stephenson (Samantha), Michelle Chandler (Michael), Erin Kenyon (Joshua), Sara Tang, Gregory Stephenson, Dillon Frinton (Kate), Kathryn Frinton, Olivia and Ella Chandler. He cherished his time with great-grandchildren, Kyler, Grace, Alana, Ethan, Alex, Gregory, Alyssa, Bentley, Lucas, Reese, Jaxon, and Noah, who brightened his days. Not only did Preston love his blood relatives, but his love also extended to in-laws, friends, neighbors, and over twenty foster children. Preston loved growing up in a big family, and shared stories of his adventures with his many siblings. His love of hunting and fishing was shared with his brothers, and passed along to his sons, grandsons, and nephews. Preston spent numerous years logging and enjoyed the friendships he made with his customers. He will always be remembered as a kind, generous, honest, hardworking, humble man with a contagious sense of humor. His family will cherish the memories of his many jokes, songs, and sayings. Preston’s grandchildren and greatgrandchildren will hold dear his charming ways, his desire for them to work their hardest, and his enthusiasm, even through hard times. Preston loved his church family, and served many years as a deacon, trustee, and youth leader. The First Baptist Church of Corinth will miss his leadership, devotion, and quiet strength. He was a special friend and uncle to the families that attended church over the years. He especially enjoyed his time with the family of Stan and Carol Rayder, and Joe and Betty Vaughn. The family would like to thank his doctors: R. Daoui, C. Alexander-Decker, W. Kufs, M. Mehta, Z. Kosten and J. Borden for their care and compassion. A special thanks to Lorraine LaFrenier for coordinating Preston’s renal care. The family would also like to thank Pearl, Louisa and Lewis for their frequent encouraging visits, which Preston thoroughly enjoyed. Family and friends may gather on Friday, August 17, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Brewer Funeral Home in Lake Luzerne. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10 am, also at the funeral home. Special friend and pastor Neil Shupp, will officiate the celebration of Preston’s life. Burial will be Corinth Rural Cemetery.
