BHBL High School student killed in crash
BURNT HILLS, N.Y. » A one-car rollover crash late Friday has taken the life of a 16-year-old BHBL High School student, according to media reports.
The student has been identified as Deacon Martucci of Glenville. The crash is said to have happened at 10 p.m. Friday when a 2013 Jeep Wrangler that was travelling eastbound on Charlton Road crossed the center line and the westbound lane, left the road and stuck several trees.
The reports from several news sources said Martucci was driving the vehicle and was its sole occupant. He was transported to Ellis Hospital in Schenectady where he died from his injuries.
The BHBL School District has put an announcement of the fatality on its website titled, “BHBL Mourns the Loss of a Student”.
According to information on the website, Martucci was a junior at the school.
“Our hearts are filled with grief and sadness today,” the website announcement reads. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of high school junior Deacon Martucci. We ask the community to please keep them in your thoughts in the following days.”
The district is offering grief counseling and support services to all members of the BHBL community. The high school was open until 2 p.m. Saturday and will be open once again on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m., and Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. where grief counselors will offer counseling sessions.

“During challenging times such as these, it’s important for everyone to know, especially the youth in our community, that they are not alone in dealing with their feelings of sorrow,” the website said.
“Our sincerest condolences go out to the Martucci family and Deacon’s friends and teammates,” said High School Principal Tim Brunson.
