Saratoga Springs, NY – William B. Riley, son of the late William J. and Marion Fitzgerald Riley, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2018 surrounded by his family. Bill was raised in Watervliet and graduated from Catholic Central High School, HVCC in Troy, and attended Lindsey Wilson College in Kentucky on a basketball scholarshi­p. Bill was honorably discharged from the US Army after serving in Germany. He began his business career at the Internal Revenue Service where he met the love of his life, Elaine Lewis, whom he later married. He then went to work at Niagara Mohawk, retiring after a distinguis­hed career of 30 years. As a sports enthusiast, Bill shared his skills and knowledge with all. He took pride in coaching all his sons in Little League, and followed his grandsons in their sports endeavors. Bill is survived by his wife and best friend, Elaine; his sons William (Kathy), Michael (Maribeth), Robert (Kelli) and Kevin; his grandchild­ren Colin, Aidan, Quinn and Keira; his sisters Marilyn Riley and Nancy (Paul) Gallipeo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill cherished his family above all. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018 at the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 at St. Mary’s Church, 167 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa. Burial with military honors will follow at 12noon at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Rd., Schuylervi­lle. Bill would want to help a friend in need and close to his heart.
