Time to Shine
AMC Jewelry & Decor continues to grow
TROY, N.Y. >> Local business AMC Jewelry & Decor recently expanded into its own downtown storefront, as the company continues to grow beyond expectations.
AMC Jewelry & Decor, founded in 2014 by owners Carmen Agrusti and Ashley Cooper, is now located at 282 River St. in downtown Troy.
Since 2016, the business operated out of 13 Second St., inside of another store called Weathered Wood - but now AMC Jewelry & Decor has its own River Street space in the heart of the downtown district.
A weekend-long grand opening celebration for AMC Jewelry & Decor’s new location is scheduled for late October. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at noon on Friday, Oct. 26, followed by a party during Troy Night Out that evening featuring complimentary refreshments, raffles and giveaways, along with live music by local acts Carl Daniels and Mirk. The festivities will continue from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28 during a brunch-style celebration with tunes by DJ Nate the Great and DJ Tru Mastr.
Leading up to this event, business partners Agrusti and Cooper are making sure every little detail in the shop is just right.
“This year, our goal has been perfecting what we’re doing and streamlining what we’re doing,” Agrusti said, noting that this should help the business expand even more in the future. “Next year we’ll be taking on a lot more accounts and spreading even further.”
The owners spent a month completely renovating the shop, formerly a store called Broccolis, before a soft opening at last month’s Troy Night Out.
“It was time,” Agrusti said on why the business relocated. “We’ve been wanting to expand our product line. We’ve been really wanting to show who we are as a brand rather than having to mesh with other people’s styles.”
In the new, larger space AMC Jewelry & Decor has increased its offerings - which now includes handmade jewelry and home decor as well as artwork, crystals, and candles with crystals inside - all under new branding.
One designated section of the shop also showcases products made by other area artists. With this new initiative, Agrusti and Cooper aim to give fellow entrepreneurs an opportunity to display and sell their work in a permanent retail setting.
“We’re trying to keep it full circle,” Agrusti said. “As we grow it’s not just about benefiting us ... but we’re able to do things like this and offer the space now to other creatives.”
Looking ahead, AMC Jewelry & Decor plans to expand its line even more in the near future to also include bath bombs and candle melts, both with crystals inside.
The shop’s hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
In addition to the downtown Troy store, AMC Jewelry & Decor products can be found in several 25 Silver Boutique locations, A Silver Breeze on Broadway in Saratoga Springs, Ace Hardware in Brunswick and many other Capital Region sites, along with hundreds of shows and pop-ups throughout the year.
