Five Questions with Dr. Frederick Frankenstein
Mike Bellotti plays Dr. Frederick Frankenstein in the upcoming Home Made Theater production of Young Frankenstein, set for Oct. 13 through 28 at the Spa Little Theater in the Saratoga State Park. For tickets, call (518) 587-4427 or visit www.homemadetheater.org. 1) Who are you? Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced Fronkensteen); Mike Bellotti
2) What is your life like in Transylvania?
Interesting, to say the least. I’ve only been here for a few days but, in that time, I have encountered an exotic variety of anatomical beings, including humpbacks, werewolves, uni-brows and mountains and mountains of the breast, I mean the best, people. The Frankenstein castle is cold, dank and creepy and the food is awful which nostalgically reminds me of my many hours spent in the morgue of the anatomy wing of the Johns, Miriam and Anthony Hopkins School of Medicine. 3) Are you afraid of monsters? Not really, I spent countless hours with cadavers of all shapes and sizes, honing my vast intellect in the areas of anatomy, surgery and brain function. Mother-in-laws ...scary. Monsters... not so much.
4) Do you get along with everyone in the town?
I believe so. I don’t interact with a significant number of folks as that interferes with my work. Though jarring at first, Igor has turned into a first rate stooge, I mean assistant. I’ve really become fond of the little fella. Frau Blucher is a bit nosy and her bloodlust makes me a bit uncom---
fortable but we manage a symbiotic relationship. My laboratory assistant, Inga, has HUGE ..... heart and has catered to my every filthy desire, I mean primal need, I mean detail of sound, Hippocratic scientific research.
5) What is your favorite scene in the show?
Puttin’ on the Ritz. I’m a bit obsessed with Irving Berlin. He is such an up and coming artist. I just love his music!
