RAOUL JOSEPH GAGNÉ
Saratoga Springs, NY Raoul Joseph Gagné bid us all a fond farewell on Monday, October 8, 2018. He was 81 years old. Born in Meriden, Connecticut, Raoul was a steadfast resident of Saratoga Springs for the past 43 years. A proud and dedicated husband, father, brother and friend, he also committed himself to a life of public service as a Soldier, a Teacher, a school Principal and as a New York State Attorney. He left an indelible fingerprint on the community, state and nation by improving the lives and opportunities for the disadvantaged and disabled, by shaping and inspiring youth and most of all by protecting his family of whom he was so proud. Raoul leaves behind his greatest love and wife of 52 years, Margaret Mary Meger (“Molly”), his daughter Martha Gagné (Kevin Baity), son Aaron (Sandy Malesky), grandsons Connor Gagné and Nathan Baity and seven siblings. He was predeceased by his grandson Ryan Baity and three siblings. Raoul’s wish for all was to live peacefully and gently, with compassion and no small amount of humor. In furtherance of those wishes, and in lieu of flowers or other donations, his family requests that donations be made to the Roosevelt Institute (https://bit.ly/2RDWj3d ) or to the Geyser Road Trail Fund, S.W.N.A, PO Box 4783, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Your donation to the Institute helps sustain and expand the mission to foster research and education on the lives and impacts of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt and their continuing impact on contemporary life. Your donation to the Trail Fund will help support the grassroots project serving the southwest neighborhood of Saratoga Springs advocated by Raoul and Molly for more than 15 years. A celebration of Raoul’s life, loves, humor and the New York Yankees will follow at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Buke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373). Online remembrances may be made at www.burkefuneralhome.com
